Memphis is a musical with music by David Bryan, lyrics by Bryan and Joe DiPietro, and a book by DiPietro. The show is loosely based on the story of Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips , [ 1 ] one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s.

[2] He is best known for the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, for which he won the Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score as well as for writing the book and lyrics for the long-running off-Broadway show I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
