The Rosses Point Peninsula (Irish: An Ros) [2] is a small peninsula in the centre of Sligo Bay, County Sligo, Ireland. The peninsula shares its name with the village of Rosses Point, a popular seaside resort located on the peninsula's southern coast, roughly 7.5 km (5 mi) west of Sligo town. Rosses Point has been inhabited for millennia.

Point Rosee, shown on an 1859 map as Stormy Point, [4] [3] is a remote headland above a rocky shoreline on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, approximately 600 kilometres (370 mi) south of L'Anse aux Meadows, which is near the northernmost point in Newfoundland and is the only confirmed Norse site in North America.
Rosses Point is home to the Sligo Yacht Club, who hold sailing courses for children and adults in the summer months. [citation needed] Also held annually is the West of Ireland Championship which is hosted by County Sligo Golf Club. [citation needed] Rosses Point has several Blue Flag strands which safe for swimming.
The Pillar and Doc mines are small, shallow mines near Stormy Point. Between them lie Bronze Age mines. They are around 50 metres (160 ft) long, 10 metres (33 ft) deep at present, and are at an elevation of 165 metres (541 ft). [1] The so-called Doc Mine extends across Stormy Point to forefield but may connect with a shaft at its western end.
