The John P. Raynor, S.J. Library, completed in 2003, is named for one of Marquette's former presidents. The library contains many of J. R. R. John Patrick Raynor (1 October 1923 – 14 November 1997) was a Catholic priest of the Jesuit order and the twentieth president of Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [1] Raynor managed Marquette University from 1965 to 1990, which is the longest tenure of any president in Marquette's history. [ 2 ]
John P. Raynor Library. Marquette is located on a 93-acre (38 ha) campus in the near downtown Milwaukee neighborhood of University Hill, on the former Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. Lake Michigan is roughly one mile east of the edge of campus. The campus stretches 12 blocks east to west and 5 blocks north to south.

After his retirement, Fr. O'Donnell assisted Rev. John Raynor, S.J. as the university's chancellor. He retired from that role in 1972. He left Marquette for St. John's College, Belize, where he had led the teacher training program during World War II. While there he concentrated on parish work.
