Christopher Newport University (CNU) is a public university in Newport News, Virginia, United States.It was founded in 1960 as Christopher Newport College, an extension school of the College of William and Mary for mid-career working professionals, members of the military, and non-traditional students in and around the Newport News area of the Hampton Roads region.
CNU was established in 1902 by Act No. 74 of the Philippine Commission as a summer institute of the Philippine Normal University (PNS, then a normal school). It was then called "Cebu Normal School" and was the located at Colegio Logarta building (later Hijos del Pueblo) at the Colon Street by which the Cebu provincial government pays the amount of ₱200 monthly.

Senior operations staff at the College of Pharmacy began discussions for a new medical school in the greater Sacramento area in the spring of 2010 as a result of several publications and studies which indicated the need for an increase number of primary care physicians trained in California.
