Dan Brenner (born Daniel Abraham Brenner, December 19, 1963) is an American composer, musician, and psychiatrist. Brenner was a member of the band Magnet, [1] with Moe Tucker (former drummer in the Velvet Underground) [2] in the late 1990s, and of the rap/performance-art band Razor Magnet with his brother, filmmaker Evan Brenner from 1985-1988.

[2] Brenner was the founding executive director of Birthright Israel NEXT [3] and he directed graduate-level training programs at Auburn Theological Seminary [4] and at CLAL- the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, [5] both in New York City.
Nicknamed "Disco Dan", he played in the Major Leagues primarily as an outfielder from 1975 to 1985 for the Minnesota Twins, California Angels, and Baltimore Orioles. He was the starting right fielder with the 1983 World Series Champion Orioles. In 1,153 career games, Ford had a batting average of .270, 121 home runs and 566 runs batted in (RBI).
He developed (with Dan Galai) the VIX volatility index based on the prices of traded index options. [ 2 ] He has also served as an associate editor and referee to several finance journals, and was an editor (with Marti Subrahmanyam ) of the Review of Derivatives Research , an academic journal specializing in derivatives markets.
