Mount Vernon High School (MVHS) is a public high school in the Chester Heights section of the City of Mount Vernon in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is part of the Mount Vernon City School District. The current Mount Vernon High School came into existence from the merger of the former A.B. Davis High School and Edison Tech in 1964.
It is located at 300 Martinsburg Road, near State Route 586. Mount Vernon Middle School is the only one in the district near the high school. Also nearby is Mount Vernon Nazarene University MVNU and the Knox County Career Center (KCCC) and Technical Center. Mount Vernon is currently a member of the Ohio Cardinal Conference. [4]
In 1973, Mount Vernon and Whitman swapped facilities, and the former intermediate school was enlarged to serve its new role as a high school. The original Mount Vernon High School continued to operate as the Walt Whitman Intermediate School until 1985, when Whitman was moved to the former Stephen Foster Intermediate School. [7]
