Communities founded in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as seaside resorts for summer visitors, often promoted by railroad interests and other speculators. Not every coastal settlement is a seaside resort. Many coastal places were founded as logging, fishing, or port communities.
The Three Rivers Casino and Resort is a resort on the southern Oregon Coast. There are two locations, one in Florence and one in Coos Bay. It is owned by the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, & Siuslaw Indians. The resort is named for the Coos, Umpqua, and Siuslaw rivers, which flow into the Pacific Ocean in southern Oregon.
The resort's three golf courses are well known and popular. The Resort Course, adjacent to the Inn, is the resort's original golf course. It is an 18-hole, 6,673 yards, par-72 course designed by Gene Mason. The course runs along the rim of the Deschutes River canyon and throughout the original Eagle Crest housing development.

The populated place of Odell Lake, Oregon, is on the lake's southeast end at and was once a station on the Southern Pacific Railroad's Cascade Line between Crescent Lake station and Cascade Summit [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] The place was also known as Odell Lake Resort, and today is the site of Odell Lake Lodge.
