The 2001 Standard Bank Triangular Tournament was a One Day International (ODI) cricket tournament held in South Africa in October 2001. [1] It was a tri-nation series between the national representative cricket teams of the South Africa, India and Kenya. The hosts South Africa won the tournament by defeating the India by six wickets in the final.
India ensured an ODI series victory after beating South Africa by 73 runs in the fifth match, after they had already won the first three fixtures. This resulted in India's first ODI series win in South Africa, with India maintaining their number one ranking in the ICC ODI Championship. [24] [25] India went on to win the ODI series 5–1. [26]
