Line break (↵) breaks the current line without new paragraph. It puts lines of text close together. Tab character (→) is used to align text horizontally to the next tab stop. End-of-cell and end-of row markers (¤) appear automatically in each box when display of non-printable characters turned on.
A non-paragraph line break, which is a soft return, is inserted using ⇧ Shift+↵ Enter or via the menus, and is provided for cases when the text should start on a new line but none of the other side effects of starting a new paragraph are desired. In text-oriented markup languages, a soft return is typically offered as a markup tag.

When a paragraph or line of text is too long to fit on one line, web browsers, like many other programs, automatically wrap the text to the next line. Web browsers usually wrap the line where there are natural breaks such as spaces, hyphens, etc. in the text.
Solution: divide one of the tall cells so that the row gets one rowspan=1 cell (and don't mind the eventual loss of text-centering). Then kill the border between them. Don't forget to fill the cell with nothing ({}). This being the only solution that correctly preserves the cell height, matching that of the reference seven row table.
