The Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District provides education from grade 9 onwards in the local area. Founded in 1893 as Manzanita Hall, Harker now has three campuses: Bucknall, Union, and Saratoga, named after the streets on which they lie. The Bucknall campus houses the Lower School (kindergarten through grade 5), the Union campus houses the Middle School (grades 6–8), and the Saratoga campus houses the Upper School (grades 9 through 12).
The area comprising Saratoga was earlier inhabited by the Ohlone Native Americans. [7] [8] In 1847, European settlers created a settlement at what is now Saratoga when William Campbell (father of Benjamin Campbell, the founder of nearby Campbell, California), constructed a sawmill about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) southeast of the present downtown area.

The Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District (formerly Los Gatos-Saratoga Joint Union High School District) is a high school district in the greater San Jose, California, U.S. area. It operates two high schools, and is ranked the Best School District in California.
The district operates 25 elementary schools, five middle schools, and three high schools. It also maintains an alternative high school, an English language center, and an adult education center. Many of the park and recreation facilities at the schools are managed by the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.
