Wallis (Wallisian: ʻUvea) is a Polynesian atoll/island in the Pacific Ocean belonging to the French overseas collectivity (collectivité d'outre-mer, or COM) of Wallis and Futuna. It lies north of Tonga , northeast of Fiji , east-northeast of the Hoorn Islands , east of Fiji's Rotuma , southeast of Tuvalu , southwest of Tokelau and west of Samoa .
Wallis is located at (29.630649, –96.062751). [5] SH 36 heads northwest from Wallis to Sealy in Austin County and east-southeast from Wallis to Rosenberg in Fort Bend County. The BNSF Railway runs parallel with SH 36 on the north side of the highway.

The 1961 statute creating the overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna recognized the traditional justice of the lavelua in Wallisian affairs (land management in particular), and confirmed the status of special law enjoyed by Wallisians and Futunians since 1933.
