Jackson County School District is a school district in Jackson County, Alabama. The district enrolls approximately 5,150 students and operates 17 schools, including five K–12 schools and one traditional high school. [1] The superintendent is Kevin Dukes. It is one of two school districts in the county, the other being Scottsboro City Schools.
Citrus High School can be dated to the late 1800s when it was a wood-frame school building that taught chart class to the sixth grade. It is referred to as the first Inverness High School by some. Citrus High School was officially authorized to be built in 1911 as a two-story brick school house which was designed by architect W.B. Talley.
