Dumont is a borough in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census , the borough's population was 17,863, [ 10 ] [ 11 ] an increase of 384 (+2.2%) from the 2010 census count of 17,479, [ 20 ] [ 21 ] which in turn reflected a decrease of 24 (−0.1%) from the 17,503 counted in the 2000 census .
According to the nomination form, the house was probably built by James P. Demarest, and restored around 1850 after a fire by Abraham G. Demarest (1819–1889). [4] It is said to be one of the oldest houses in the county and is one of many Bergen Dutch houses built by descendants of early settlers to New Netherland.

The Camp Merritt Memorial Monument is dedicated to the soldiers who passed through Camp Merritt, New Jersey on their way to fight in Europe in World War I, especially the 578 people – 15 officers, 558 enlisted men, four nurses and one civilian – who died at the camp due to the worldwide influenza epidemic of 1918, whose names are inscribed at the base of the monument.
