The Defence Services Academy (Burmese: စစ်တက္ကသိုလ်, lit. 'Military University', ဒေါ်စိန်အေး Daw Sein Aye pronounced [sɪʔ tɛʔkəθò]) located in Pyin Oo Lwin, is the premier military service academy of Myanmar, training future officers for all three branches of Myanmar military.
The BIA's attempts at establishing a government during the invasion led to it being dissolved by the Japanese and the smaller Burma Defence Army (BDA) formed in its place. As Japan guided Burma towards nominal independence, the BDA was expanded into the Burma National Army (BNA) of the State of Burma, a puppet state under Ba Maw, in 1943. [1]
Opened in 1958, NDC was one of several training facilities opened in the mid-to-late 1950s, the most well known among them being the Defence Services Academy. [1] [2] NDC provides post-graduate master's degrees in defence studies to military officers. [2] Since 1994, NDC has offered one-year courses for officers above the rank of colonel. [2]
