Jan 13, 2020. #27. Years of searching for a truly lightweight pair of camp shoes ended when we found these 6.6-ounce-per-pair EVA foam sandals (185 grams). They work for everything from communal showers to going out to dinner and can be worn with socks or without.
For myself I ordered a new pair and they were too loose. Well, place your Crocs in the dryer for 5 minutes with a couple of towels on medium to high. Don't be surprised when they look even smaller. Put them on over thick socks and wear them until cool. If your Crocs are too big the dryer will shrink them.
I used to wear flipflops, but my joints and tendons are not so happy with flipflops anymore. On my last Camino I took my Teva sandals, which are great for around town. But for the shower/walking to the toilet at night I would prefer slip-on shoes. So now I am doubting between Crocs and Birkenstocks Arizona EVA...
Apr 7, 2015. #2. You can walk in Crocs too - just about. They are great for pottering around the albergue or getting from the place you're staying to the place you're eating, and for nipping to the loo in the night, but not a lot more. I once swore I'd bring Crocs on all my coming caminos, but I have chosen to bring the Tevas every time.
2017. Nov 14, 2017. #1. Hi all, This is my 1st time on the forum but having spent hours on the forum before I did the Camino looking at lots of posts about footwear I thought I would pass on my experience. I decided to take 2 sets of footwear - my very comfortable Crocs (Duet Sport Clog) and a pair of Newbalance joggers just in case.
Without a doubt my fav ´evening shoes’ are CROCS. They are super light, durable, cushy, great for in the Albergue, the shower, and on the street because your toes are protected. The only down sides-you have to be strapped to your pack’s exterior (but this makes them super quick to access when its time to change out of your walking shoes ...
Camino Portugues (2016) Sentier Cathar (2017) Dec 9, 2018. #4. Footwear for the shower is a personal thing. My guess is that if you are asking then you should take something. If you're a germophobe *definitely* take flip-flops, if you are using a communal shower in a gym/swimming pool and would normally wear flip-flops take flip-flops.
Here is the AEMET report for historical (climate) conditions at Pamplona airport in October. I note that the average minimum for October is 8.9 deg C, so clearly half of the nights will have a lower minimum than that. The average maximum is 19.3 deg C, although that drops to 13 deg C in November.
When I got my one and only blister last year, I took my shoes off and changed to crocs. They were perfectly adequate for the last five kilometres of the day. They are also invaluable for laundry duty (the floor is always wet, and it gets muddy if I wear my shoes and I don't want to get my socks wet) and a little light walking around town after ...
My second pair of shoes have always been Tevas. Although I didn’t hike in them, I easily could have. But, at the end of the day, it was great to take off my hiking shoes and put on the sandals. If you have a properly fitting shoe, I have walked in both Merrell Moabs and trail running shoes, you’ll be in good shape.
