The team has made three Olympic tournament appearances, competing at the 1968, 1976, and 1988 Olympic Games. Guatemala have yet to qualify for the finals tournament of the World Cup, although they have reached the final round of qualification on four occasions. Guatemala won the 1967 CONCACAF Championship and the 2001 UNCAF Nations Cup.
In June 1999 the first UNCAF Women's Championship was celebrated in Guatemala City, where after wins against Honduras and Nicaragua and a draw against Costa Rica, the host team won the title by beating the latter 2–0 in the final, in front of 12,000 spectators at the Estadio Mateo Flores. [4]

The qualification for a FIFA World Cup has not yet been achieved, but the Olympics have been played, in 1968 , 1976 , and 1988 , achieving its best result in its first participation by arriving to the quarter-finals.
