A Bowden cable (/ ˈ b oʊ d ən / BOH-dən) [1] is a type of flexible cable used to transmit mechanical force or energy by the movement of an inner cable relative to a hollow outer cable housing. The housing is generally of composite construction, consisting of an inner lining, a longitudinally incompressible layer such as a helical winding or ...
A typical ETC system consists of three major components: (i) an accelerator pedal module (ideally with two or more independent sensors), (ii) a throttle valve that can be opened and closed by an electric motor (sometimes referred to as an electric or electronic throttle body (ETB)), and (iii) a powertrain or engine control module (PCM or ECM). Bosch hot-film air mass meter, cast alloy Siemens-VDO throttle body with electronically controlled 'drive by wire' throttle butterfly valve, cast aluminium alloy intake manifold; Garrett variable turbine geometry (not all models) turbocharger incorporated in exhaust manifold, 2.3 bar (33.4 psi) absolute boost; side-mounted intercooler (SMIC)
Wide open throttle or wide-open throttle (WOT), also called full throttle, is the fully opened state of a throttle on an engine (internal combustion engine or steam engine). The term also, by extension, usually refers to the maximum-speed state of running the engine, as the normal result of a fully opened throttle plate/ butterfly valve .
A terminating resistor for a television coaxial cable is often in the form of a cap, threaded to screw onto an F connector. Antenna cables are sometimes used for internet connections; however, RG-6 should not be used for 10BASE2 (which should use RG-58) as the impedance mismatch can cause phasing problems with the baseband signal.
The throttle is not the only control that can limit the locomotive's power output: during steady-state running of most locomotives, the throttle is usually set wide open and the power output is controlled by moving the reversing lever (2) closer to its mid-point ("reducing the cut-off") to limit the amount of steam admitted to the cylinders.
