Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão (SBT) is a Brazilian free-to-air television network, funded on August 19, 1981, by the businessman and TV host Silvio Santos. [1] [2] The network was established after a public competition of the federal government for the creation of two new television networks, created from revoked concessions of the extinct networks Tupi and Excelsior.
