The John W. Blodgett Estate, also known as Brookby, is an historic landmark at 250 Plymouth Rd, SE, East Grand Rapids, Michigan. [3] It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 [ 1 ] and designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1977. [ 2 ]
John Wood Blodgett Sr. (1860-1951) was a lumberman, civic leader, and philanthropist. He was born on a frontier farm where the present village of Hersey, Michigan , now sits, to logging and sawmill operation owner Delos A. and Jane Wood Blodgett.

Warner's Ranch, near Warner Springs, California, was notable as a way station for large numbers of emigrants on the Southern Emigrant Trail from 1849 to 1861, as it was a stop on both the Gila River Trail and the Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach line (1859-1861).
Shortly after statehood, the California state government appointed its first State Geologist and began commissioning geologic surveys of its own. The state appointed John B. Trask to the position of State Geologist, and he served from 1850 to 1856. He compiled a report titled "On the Geology of the Sierra Nevada, or California Range."
Burrell, California was an early settlement in Santa Cruz County near the summit of the Santa Cruz Mountains, 1.5 miles (2.4 km) south-southeast of Wrights. It was named for Lyman Jabez Burrell, who settled there in the early 1850s.
Charmian died in 1955 and, by 1959, the land and its structures were given to the state of California with the help of Eliza's son Irving Shepard and his wife Mildred. [8] The next year, 1960, the property was declared a California Historical Landmark and a National Historic Landmark in 1962.
