I went online and tried every possible solution to get things to work. Specifically, I restarted my computer, manually updated the EA app, cleared the EA app's cache and repaired my game. All without success. Having exhausted every suggestion the internet provided, I submitted a ticket.
Hey, I got around this by leaving the ea app open with the screen saying a restart is needed. In the bottom left the game continued to update then once it was complete I closed the ea app and then restarted it and it worked.
