ADMIN MOD • 9th gen civic mods 2014 LX 1.6L r16b2 engine Hey guys i was just wondering if there any mods like cold air intake, cat back exhaust, ecu flashing with hondata, k-tunner etc that can be done to my 2014 honda civic LX 1.6l r16b2 engine CVT.
Have had my 9th gen for a few years. Have done the suspension , bolt on power mods, brake upgrades, new shifter, and tuned on 93 octane with Hondata. Has been a very fun and reliable car.
The 7th gen is the abomination. 9th gen is an all-around solid car. It's just not as fun as an 8th gen. You get more torque, but no noticeable vtec crossover, and the k24 doesn't rev as high. The interior aside from the updated tech isn't as nice as the 8th gen either. That being said, I would take a 9th gen in a heartbeat over a 10th or 11th Gen

Not really a direct comparison, but I did drive a 1.5T (non-Si) and a 9th gen Si. Honda definitely tuned their turbo's properly so that it feels N/A. It's really your call. The 9th will probably be more reliable in the long run due to the lack of a turbo, but you have roughly 20 more lb-ft of torque with the 10th gen.
The 10th gen is remarkably quicker, gets better gas mileage, and doesn't need premium gas. Hell a 10th gen regular Civic with a CVT is quicker than a stock 9th gen Si in a straight line. Test drive them, see what fits you. The most "Si" and fun Civic is a 7th gen, and if you are young, don't commute, or have kids might be perfect for you.
For stock ride height and new shocks, use stock springs paired with Bilstein or Konis if they're available for the 9th gen. If you want about 1 inch of lowering, Fortune Auto 500s are a solid choice. They handle and ride well compared to BCs.
Now I'm thinking of buying an 8th or 9th gen 1.8 Honda Civic, I found several cars on a local website the prices are around 7k EU with the mileage up to 150k km, or there is an alternative to spend a little more (the procedure of importing costs around 1k ) and get a car from Germany but with fewer miles (I found several cars with less than ...
Hondata for 9th gen - tuning questions. I just bought the Hondata and will hook it up to my car after work. I've read about different types of tunes, I know the basemap is included, are stage 1, 2, 3 tunes included in the software or have to be purchased separately?
If youre just going to daily it go for the newest 9th gen you can afford. No worries about paint fade or clear coat issues, less miles, and a decent tq band. The 9th gen seems to have a large aftermarket. The head design is different(one single large oval exhaust port) and doesnt rev as high as the k20z3 in the 8th gen. Vtec on the intake cam only.
