The following list of megachurches affiliated with the Assemblies of God USA are taken from the denomination's official 2017 statistics [3] and are ordered by average attendance of Sunday worship services: Timberline Church, Fort Collins, Colorado – 16,604; First Assembly of God, North Little Rock, Arkansas – 16,553
This is a list of the largest megachurches in the United States with an attendance of more than 10,000 weekly, sometimes also termed a gigachurch. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] According to The Hartford Institute's database, approximately 50 churches had attendance ranging from 10,000 to 47,000 in 2010. [ 3 ]
The Leadership Network contains a directory of all Christian megachurches of the world (excluding Canada and USA). [5] This global list has over 270 megachurches. The Hartford Institute has compiled directories in Canada and the USA. The US list has more than 1,668 megachurches [6] [7] and the Canadian list 22. [8]
A 2020 study by the Hartford Institute found that 70 percent of American megachurches had a multi-site network and an average of 7.6 services per weekend. [15] The study also found that most U.S. megachurches are in Florida, Texas, California, and Georgia. [16] Churches that gather more than 10,000 people every Sunday have been dubbed gigachurches.
Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale (CCFL) is an evangelical megachurch in Florida, with over 20,000 worshipers attending on average. [1] Founded in 1985 by Bob Coy and his wife Diane, it is affiliated with the Calvary Chapel movement. CCFL is currently led by Pastor Doug Sauder. [2]
