Starks is an unincorporated community in Kane County in the U.S. state of Illinois, located just south of the McHenry County border. Hampshire lies to its northwest, and Pingree Grove lies to its southeast. In the Illinois highway system, Starks is noted for having a wrong-way concurrency.

On March 6, 1855, the city of Oshkosh purchased a land parcel from Maria Grignon for creation of a cemetery. The parcel was located on the east bank of the Fox River and was named Riverside Cemetery. It was built as a replacement for the Locust Grove Cemetery, which was the first burial ground in Oshkosh and built in 1848.

[1] On January 15, 2009, he became known globally as first officer of US Airways Flight 1549, when he worked together with captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger to water land the aircraft on the Hudson River after the plane lost both of its engines.
