Missouri Western State University was founded in 1915 as St. Joseph Junior College and held courses in the original location of Central High School at 13th and Patee. In 1933 when Central High School moved to its current location the junior college relocated to the Robidoux Polytechnic High School building at 10th Street between Edmond and Charles.

Spratt opened in 1979. Previously Missouri Western played at municipal owned Noyes Field by Central High School. It is named for Elliot Spratt, an executive with Hillyard, Inc. whose family has donated money for numerous buildings on the campus. Missouri Western opened stadium with a 44-0 victory over Dana College.
The Wildwood campus is located off Route 109 and Route 100 in West St. Louis County. Wildwood is state-of-the-art; it the first Green campus in Missouri built with environmentally friendly materials.
