Brookline Village is one of the major commercial and retail centers of the town of Brookline, Massachusetts, United States. Located just north of Massachusetts Route 9 and west of the Muddy River , it is the historic center of the town and includes its major civic buildings, including town hall and the public library.

Brookline (/ ˈ b r ʊ k l aɪ n / ⓘ) is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States, and part of the Boston metropolitan area.An exclave of Norfolk County, Brookline borders six of Boston's neighborhoods: Brighton, Allston, Fenway–Kenmore, Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, and West Roxbury.
As of the census [1] of 2000, there were 467 people and 124 families residing in the town. The population density was 36.2 people per square mile (14.0/km 2). There were 274 housing units at an average density of 21.2 per square mile (8.2/km 2). The racial makeup of the town was 99.36% White, 0.21% Native American, 0.43% from other races.
Comedian and Brookline, Massachusetts native John Hodgman worked at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in his youth.
