The Deer Creek Open was a professional golf tournament on the Ben Hogan Tour in 1990. Also known as the Ben Hogan Kansas City Classic, it was played at Deer Creek Golf Course in Overland Park, Kansas. [1] [2] In 1990 the winner earned $20,000.
Founded in 1892 as a polo club, in 1895, the club moved to a site in the city of Clayton where it hired James Foulis, winner of the 1896 United States Open Golf Championship, to build a nine-hole course. The course opened in October 1896. In 1913, with Clayton becoming more populated, the club looked to move further west.

The original 18-hole golf course at Silverado opened 70 years ago in 1955, and is now the North Course. In 1966, it was re-designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and the South Course was added. The resort also has 16 tennis courts, 10 swimming pools, 280 guest condo hotel units and private cottage suites.

Deer Creek opened in 1921. Deer Creek is a growing community sprawling over the border between Oklahoma County and Logan County. It is named for the nearby Deer Creek, which snakes through much of the district and occasionally causes the schools to close by flooding during times of heavy rains. [2] [3]
