In September 1997, Holy Name Central Catholic High School added Grades 7 and 8. In December 2019, the Archdiocese of Worcester announced that the school would close at the end of the academic year and merge with St. Peter-Marian, creating a new school, St. Paul Diocesan Junior/Senior High School, located on the site of Holy Name. St Pius X Voluntary Intermediate School began in 1960 with the purchase of 6 acres (24,000 m 2) of land, at a cost of £5,000, by Canon Mark Quinn, parish priest of Magherafelt. The building of the school commenced in 1962 and opened for three hundred pupils in September 1964. [2] The official opening by Cardinal Conway took place in June 1965.
The educational complex comprising St. Ludmila Elementary and St. Paul High School became known as Shiner Catholic School in 1997. In 2012, the Janak Music Center was completed. The building serves students in grades K-12 beginning in the 2012–2013 school year. In late 2018 a new building was completed on the school campus.
