The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) is the governing body for high school sports in the U.S. state of California. CIF membership includes both public and private high schools. Unlike most other state organizations, instead, for some sports, the CIF's 10 Sections each have their own championships.
The league dates back to 1901, when it was known as the "Interscholastic League of Southern California." [2] Prior to CIF Southern Section, founding members included Chaffey High School of Ontario (then known as Ontario High School), Redlands High School, [2] Riverside High School [2] (now known as Riverside Poly), Pomana High School [2] and San Bernardino High School.
