  2. Harbor Freight $45 Chainsaw? - Grassroots Motorsports

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/harbor-freight-45...

5/24/12 2:16 a.m. I just received a Harbor Freight mailer showing a 14" electric chainsaw for $45. I'm not looking for anything industrial strength but I am tired of using a manual pruning saw for cutting down medium branches on the three trees I own. It won't see a ton of use, it's only $45.

Harbor Freight Chain Grinder Mods. The swap to an Oregon wheel made this 90% better, but the locking mechanism is pretty flimsy. Need to make something more secure to hold the chain with. Echo / John Deere Saw: Dad has had an old Echo saw up on the shelf for years, hat was re-branded and sold as a John Deere.

Predator powered vehicles. RevRico GRM+ Member and SuperDork. 6/23/17 4:31 p.m. By now we've all seen tractors, karts, wagons, pedal cars all powered by the Harbor Freight 6.5hp Predator motor, but now it seems some people have upped the game. This truck was the first one I saw, and it has a sibling video showing off it's true power.

  5. Too many power tool choices and I can't decide which to buy

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/too-many-power-tool-choices-and-i-cant...

Ryobi seems to have a wide variety of tools at various qualities and good prices, but their higher end impacts seem to be knocking on the door of some higher-grade stuff, price-wise. But the batteries work on so many tools and most of it is pretty cheap. (I'm vaguely eyeing the Ryobi 18v weed eater to keep the yard tidy).

  6. Circular Saw Recommendations?| Off-Topic Discussion forum

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/circular-saw...

Bosch, Skill, and Milwaukee did a slight reduction in quality and features in apparent attempt to avoid Harbor freight sales loss. This was before Skil was sold to the Chinese company. But in measured inch/minute and ease of holding your line in wood board cutting the Dewalt premium saw blades out performed everything.

  7. Grease guns - what am I doing wrong? - Grassroots Motorsports

1/8/23 9:51 a.m. Grease tubes invariably have some air in them. There should be a bleeder screw on the top of the gun to let the air out of the piston. Also, you should be able to pull the loading rod out, rotate it and lock it into the piston so you can push on the piston to force the air out. If you can't do those things, find a grease gun ...

  8. Scissor jack recommendations? - Grassroots Motorsports

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/scissor-jack-recommendations/272835/page1

Harbor Freight sells an aluminum hydraulic jack that seems to get good reviews, if you have the storage space I'd look at that instead of a scissor jack (the handle comes off and breaks down into two pieces).

  9. Help me mount a winch in my garage| Shop and Garage Talk forum

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/shop-talk/help-me-mount-a-winch-in-my-garage/...

I'll get you a picture when I get home. I got a Harbor Freight winch and mounted it to a half inch thick steel plate that is roughly 12 by 24. My drill for half inch holes in it. In my concrete floor I used the lead anchors that you drill a hole through the concrete put the anchor in and then set it by beating it with a hammer.

  10. How to mount and balance a tire: a step-by-step guide

Both consume a lot of tires, meaning lots of time–and money–spent getting new tires mounted and balanced. We wanted an alternative, so we added Bendpak tire mounting and balancing equipment to the GRM workshop so we could do it ourselves. Follow along to learn how to mount and balance a tire. 11. IMS Bandsaw? - Grassroots Motorsports

    grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/ims-bandsaw/179808/page1

The average wood cutting 14" import bandsaw runs the blade at over 2500 feet per minute. You need to slow it down to (depending on your bi-metal blade choice) at least 290SFM. I'd suggest running a bit slower for extended blade life and the ability to cut more than just mild steel.
