She switches the topic to baseball, going over the time her team plays his team, confident that she will win over him every time. Sally, Linus, Lucy, Snoopy and Woodstock decides to plant a lush garden—in Charlie Brown's baseball field, despite Linus' protests. Lucy then calls in the whole team to help with the planting.
Furious, Lucy threatens Snoopy into bringing back Charlie Brown. Snoopy manages to bring Charlie Brown back after blindly shooting his invisibility counter spell in an attempt to find him. Charlie Brown turns back to normal while he attempts to kick Lucy's football again before she pulls it away at the last second.

Snoopy is cruelly mistreated, being run ragged by his owner (who is only seen in shadow or silhouette and only speaks in a much deeper version of the classic Peanuts adult "waa-waa-waa" language) and his quintet of the larger dogs. They deny Snoopy any food or water and take turns barking loudly at him to let him know he is indeed an outsider.
Throughout the special, the other characters also have various problems of their own: "Pig-Pen" is also criticized by Patty and Violet for being dirty, and Lucy constantly fails to get Schroeder’s attention. Days later, Snoopy drags Linus and his blanket across the neighborhood, which all the children follow as they get affected in their path.
