Venice Army Airfield is an inactive United States Army Forces base, approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) south-southeast of Venice, Florida. It was active during World War II as a Third Air Force training airfield. It was closed on November 30, 1945.
The group was activated as the 56th Pursuit Group on 15 January 1941 at the Savannah Army Air Base in Georgia. Expansion of the group began after the move to Charlotte Army Air Base, North Carolina in May 1941 when they were equipped with a small number of Bell P-39 Airacobra and Curtiss P-40 Warhawk aircraft.

Official dedication of the airfield as Savannah Army Air Base took place 19 February 1941.
