Today, the Yamanote Line is one of Tokyo's busiest and most important commuter rail lines. Originally thus named in 1909, when the line only connected Shinagawa to Akabane in the Yamanote area, the line was extended into its present loop in 1925, connecting Shitamachi areas like Ueno, Kanda, Yurakucho and Shinbashi as well.
The station is served by the Yamanote Line, which circles around central Tokyo, and the Keihin-Tōhoku Line, which runs from Saitama through Tokyo to Yokohama. Formally, the station lies on the Tokaido Main Line. The station is within the Yamanote Line fare zone (東京山手線内), and the Tokyo Metropolitan District fare zone (東京都区内).
Tabata Station (田端駅, Tabata-eki) is a railway station in Kita, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). Tabata Station is on the Tōhoku Main Line and Yamanote Line and is served by the circular Yamanote Line trains and the local and rapid trains of the Keihin–Tōhoku Line.
A Japanese variant of Manneken Pis on the station platform. The JR East station consists of two platforms serving four tracks, with cross-platform interchange in the direction of travel between the Yamanote line (tracks 2 and 3) and the Keihin-Tōhoku line (tracks 1 and 4).
Okachimachi Station is served by the circular Yamanote Line and also the Keihin-Tohoku Line.Although not physically connected, Naka-Okachimachi on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, Ueno-hirokōji on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, and Ueno-okachimachi on the Toei Oedo Line are within walking distance of Okachimachi and marked as interchanges on route maps.
