Matilde Soto Landeta (20 September 1913 – 26 January 1999) was a Mexican filmmaker and screenwriter, the first woman to serve in those roles during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema (1936-1956). Her films focused on the portrayal of strong, realistic female protagonists in a patriarchal world .
By the end of the decade, she was acting in full-length silent films and had progressed to leading roles in The Gaucho (1927), Lady of the Pavements (1928) and Wolf Song (1929), among others. Vélez made the transition to sound films without difficulty. She was one of the first successful Mexican actresses in Hollywood.
She filmed some Mexican movies in the 1940s, but won stardom in the cinema of Argentina in the 1950s. Olga Chaviano (1925–2003): A successful star of the cabarets of her time. She was called "The Queen of the Mambo". She filmed some Mexican films in the 1950s, but she is removed from the show to be involved with the gangster Norman Rothman.
