The Good Shepherd Home for Girls structure was built in 1942 and is located near the northeast corner of Northern and 19th Avenues. The home for girls closed in 1981 and is now a commercial property. Dateland, named after the Medjool Date Palms, was a road stop in the 1920s that served the travelers who were headed to and from California.
