' Moonlight Garden ') is a charbagh complex in Agra, North India. It lies north of the Taj Mahal complex and the Agra Fort on the opposite side of the Yamuna River, in the flood plains. [1] [2] The garden complex, square in shape, measures about 300 by 300 metres (980 ft × 980 ft) and is perfectly aligned with the Taj Mahal on the opposite bank.

It was designed as an integral part of the complex in the riverfront terrace pattern seen elsewhere in Agra.
The Taj Mahal was commissioned by Shah Jahan in 1631, to be built in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died on 17 June that year while giving birth to their 14th child, Gauhara Begum. [ 10 ] [ 11 ] Construction started in 1632, and the mausoleum was completed in 1648, while the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later.
