Bonn International School was founded in 1997 as a result of the merger of the former Bonn American High School, American Elementary School and British High School. [3] The roots of these three schools in Bonn go back 65 years, making BIS one of the oldest schools in the city.
IBIS was founded in 1963 by a group of parents and for many years was called the British Embassy Preparatory School (BEPS). When many of the embassies moved to Berlin in 1997, the school changed its name to IBIS to reflect the broad international nature of the school.
