Rhoda Alice Gossage (née Bower; November 4, 1861 – June 9, 1929) was an American newspaper editor, journalist, and activist.Often referred to as the "Mother of Rapid City", [1] she was inducted into the South Dakota Newspaper Hall of Fame in 1934 and the South Dakota Hall of Fame in 1978.
Established in 1974, the South Dakota State Legislature named the organization the state's official hall of fame in 1996. The hall is a museum detailing "acts of excellence", the host of an annual honors ceremony, a statewide K-12 South Dakota History Program, and a Visitor and Education Center in Chamberlain that opened in June 2000.
Bristol is a city located in western Day County, South Dakota, United States. It lies in Section 25 of Bristol Township, on the main line of what is now the BNSF Railway alongside U.S. Route 12 . The population was 288 at the 2020 census .
