"Broken" is a song by American alternative band Lifehouse. It is the third single released from their fourth studio album, Who We Are (2007). Lead singer Jason Wade was inspired to write the song after he visited a friend in Nashville who needed a kidney transplant.
The album was produced by American record producer Jude Cole, Lifehouse, and John Fields. As a follow-up to the success of their previous eponymous album, Cole was given wider creative control. [1] [2] Lifehouse started recording Who We Are without any demos, and only had lyrics from Jason Wade when they entered the studio. [3]
Lifehouse released their first single in six years, "Cut & Run" in April 2021. [56] The first single recorded with member Steve Stout, who had collaborated with Jason Wade on the side project ØZWALD and officially became the band's lead guitarist in 2017, the song was succeeded by four more singles over the course of 2021.
