The Hyatt Regency Chicago is a 365-foot-tall (111 m) Hyatt hotel on East Wacker Drive in Chicago, Illinois. The hotel operates over 2,019 guest rooms in two different towers which were constructed in 1974 and 1980. The towers are connected by both an above-ground skyway and an underground concourse.
It has 400 hotel rooms, 398 rental apartments, and assorted ballrooms, bars, restaurants and parking spaces. All apartments were sold for $240.4 million. [2] It is based on an L-shaped twelve-storey podium. [3] It was the tallest building built in the city in 2015.
It is operated by the Sofitel hotel chain. The hotel was designed by French architect Jean-Paul Viguier. [2] The hotel opened in May 2002 with 415 rooms and upon opening was noted for its French-style architecture. [3] It has a unique knifelike edge on the southern end which extends 33 feet over the sidewalk. [2]
