Blue Note Hawaii is a jazz club in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. It is a part of the Blue Note chain. It opened on January 14, 2016, with Kenny G and Jake Shimabukuro performing for several days. [1] It features live jazz and blues music and also popular Hawaiian musical artists. It is located in the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.
There was also a Hawaii International Jazz Festival, which ran from 1993 until 2007. [3] [4] The annual Pacific Rim Jazz Festival occurs in mid-autumn at the Hawaii Convention Center. [5] The annual Manoa Jazz & Heritage Festival takes place in early autumn at the Andrews Amphitheatre on the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa campus. [6]
Betty Loo Taylor (February 27, 1929 – December 21, 2016) was an American jazz pianist and musician, known as Hawaii's "First Lady of Jazz." [1] She was the subject of the 2003 documentary, They Call Her Lady Fingers: The Betty Loo Taylor Story, by husband-and-wife filmmakers, Patricia Gillespie and Sam Polson.
Arthur Hunt Lyman (February 2, 1932 – February 24, 2002) was a Hawaiian jazz vibraphone and marimba player. His group popularized a style of faux-Polynesian music during the 1950s and 1960s which later became known as exotica.

In 2020, a previously unreleased record by Miles Davis, on which Paulo was featured on and was originally recorded in 1986, was released and reached number 1 on the billboard jazz charts in its first week. [4] In September 2023, he hosted a charity concert to raise money following the 2023 Hawaii wildfires. [11]
