The Ginn Open was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. It was played from 2006 to 2008 at Ginn Reunion Resort in Reunion, Florida . For all three years, the tournament was broadcast on CBS Sports .The title sponsor was Ginn Resorts , a resort development and management firm with headquarters in Celebration, Florida .
The Ginn sur Mer Classic was a PGA Tour Fall Series event. In 2007, the tournament was played at Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Daniel Chopra won the event, and the total purse was US$4,500,000. In 2008, The Conservatory Course at Ginn Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida hosted the event. The purse was $4,600,000.
The Shades of Green resort, originally owned by Disney, first opened as the Golf Resort in December 1973. It had 151 rooms and was located between the Palm and Magnolia golf courses. The resort was built to look like a country club, using wood and volcanic rock. Initially, it only had a clubhouse for the golf courses, with no guest rooms.
Bowers was the longest tenured of the original owners, and the listed owner of the teams' entries when resort and real-estate developer Bobby Ginn bought out the team (with his family having 80% ownership; longtime team director Jay Frye owned the remaining 20% of the rebranded team) [1] [2] in 2007, renaming it to Ginn Racing for that season only.
