As a result of decennial redistricting, Michigan's 95th State House District included: The cities of Saginaw and Zilwaukee, Buena Vista, Bridgeport, Carrollton, James, Kochville, Spaulding and Zilwaukee Townships. The 95th state house district is currently represented by State Representative Bill G. Schuette.
Kochville is an unincorporated community in the Township at Liberty and Michigan Roads. [4] [5] German-born Frederick Charles Koch settled here in 1849, and the township was named for him when organized in 1856. On May 15, 1890, the settlement was given a post office named "Phillips", after its first postmaster, David Phillips.
