Kochville is an unincorporated community in the Township at Liberty and Michigan Roads. [4] [5] German-born Frederick Charles Koch settled here in 1849, and the township was named for him when organized in 1856. On May 15, 1890, the settlement was given a post office named "Phillips", after its first postmaster, David Phillips.
