[3] The first county seat was Marietta, located a few miles northwest of Marshalltown, and the first courthouse was built there. [4] The single-story frame structure measured 32 by 22 feet (9.8 by 6.7 m). [5] It was sold for $175 when the county seat moved to Marshalltown.
