The difference between the Gen 3 and the Gen 4 Glock 27 is only $30.00. Therefore, go ahead and get the Gen 4 so you can have the latest technology and design from Glock. The only complaint I have read over the Gen 4 is that the RTF is a bit rough on the skin (IWB), but that can be easily solved by a good holster or by installing a Hogue Grip ...
From my understanding, all SF models are Gen 3 pistols and the G30s uses the G30 SF frame with the G36 slide. I recently compared the Gen 4 G30, a G30 SF, and a G30s all side by side. All were new in the box, were blue labels and were priced exactly the same. I chose the Gen 4 G30 because it felt better to me.
The 30s has the same frame as the G30 SF. SF stood for short frame...meaning shorter trigger reach. It is my understanding that the Gen 4 models without any backstrap installed has the same reach as the SF frames. I like the 30s and find it to be a great carry gun. Reply Quote Like.

Glock has added a new backstrap system, similar to numerous other manufacturers, that allows you to change the grip a little bit. I currently have all Gen 3 guns myself and I am not familiar with the new grips ...
Hickok45's Glock 19 Gen 4 review. I saw this review of Hickok45's and figured I would share. This guy is a Glock fan boy, but is down to earth and I trust his opinions. He shot just over 1,000 rounds of various ammo through this Gen 4 Glock 19. I think his overall review was positive, but he had multiple on camera failures during testing.
The Glock 17 slide will not fit on a Glock 19 frame, or vice versa. There are some differences between the 2 guns. Only the Glock 47 frame/slide will interchange with a Glock 19. The G19 doesn't just have a shorter grip than the G17. That is what I thought for years. The G19 grip is actually shaped differently. I have small hands.

Maybe I have missed the point of the question, but every 3rd and 4th Generation Glock has a rail. They have what Glock calls a Glock rail. The G21SF has a full picatinny rail. The pistol on the left has the Glock rail. The one on the right has the picatinny rail. I was wanting a G 19 with a full picatinny rail.
