Straight Blast Gym Ireland (also known as SBG Ireland) is a mixed martial arts academy and professional team based in Dublin, Ireland. It is run by John Kavanagh, and is part of Straight Blast Gym International. [1] The team has produced several Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters, the most notable being Conor McGregor.

As of 2012 the Straight Blast Gym international organization includes over 35 gyms worldwide including locations in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Iceland, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, and the UK. SBG is affiliated as a registered academy through the IBJJF and USBJJF.
Artem Lobov (Russian: Артём Лобов; born August 11, 1986) is an Irish-Russian former professional mixed martial artist and bare-knuckle boxer.He previously competed in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and has most recently competed in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
Born in Dungarvan, County Waterford [2] he is currently fighting out of Dublin, Ireland, he is a member of SBG Ireland with head coach John Kavanagh with notable teammates such as Conor McGregor, Artem Lobov & Gunnar Nelson. He is the owner/coach of SBG in Naas, County Kildare. [3] [4]
A pioneer of MMA in Ireland, he competed in some of the earliest local circuit MMA events in Ireland and the UK and is the first Irish man to receive a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Gunnar first met Kavanagh during one of his BJJ seminars at Mjolnir, [17] and the SBG Ireland owner would remain his head coach until this day.
