Maharashtra Open is held since 1996. In its first year it was located in New Delhi, then in Chennai where it was renamed as Chennai Open. The championship moved from there to Pune, a city of Maharashtra, in 2018 and was rebranded as Maharashtra Open. The Mumbai Open is a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It is currently part of the WTA 125 tournaments . It is held in Mumbai , [ 1 ] [ 2 ] India with the first edition in 2017, but tournament was not held between 2019 to 2023.
The 2020 Tata Open Maharashtra was a 2020 ATP Tour tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 25th edition of the only ATP tournament played in India and took place in Pune, India, from 3 February through 9 February 2020. Unseeded Jiří Veselý won the singles title. [2]
João Sousa defeated Emil Ruusuvuori in the final, 7–6 (11–9), 4–6, 6–1 to win the singles title at the 2022 Tata Open Maharashtra. Sousa saved three match points against Elias Ymer in the semifinals. This was his first title since 2018.
