Donington is a village and civil parish in the South Holland District of Lincolnshire, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) north from the market town of Spalding and 11 miles (18 km) south of Boston on the A152 , it is bypassed by the A52 , and sits between the A16 and A17.

The Download Festival was conceived as a follow-up to the Monsters of Rock festivals which had been held at the Donington Park circuit between 1980 and 1996. The first Download Festival was created by Stuart Galbraith and co-booked by Andy Copping in 2003 in the same location.
