The production in 1946 began with mechanical pressure and temperature gauges. The company held its position as one of the world market leaders also after the classical manometry was more and more replaced by electronic pressure and temperature measuring and display devices. In 2010 Wika produced more than 43 Million units.
Pressure sensors can alternatively be called pressure transducers, pressure transmitters, pressure senders, pressure indicators, piezometers and manometers, among other names. Pressure is an expression of the force required to stop a fluid from expanding, and is usually stated in terms of force per unit area.
From a depth of approx. 20 m, the relative pressure can only be compensated to a limited extent by the thin hose. The level sensor is then designed as an absolute pressure transmitter whose zero point is adjusted to the desired mean air pressure depending on the location of use.
The pressure transmitter modulates the current on the loop to send the signal to the strip chart recorder, but does not in itself supply power to the loop and so is passive. Another loop may contain two passive chart recorders, a passive pressure transmitter, and a 24 V battery (the battery is the active device).
They have been successfully used in various applications, such as in medical, [4] aerospace, nuclear instrumentation, and as a tilt sensor in consumer electronics [5] or a pressure sensor in the touch pads of mobile phones. In the automotive industry, piezoelectric elements are used to monitor combustion when developing internal combustion ...
direct TPM sensor fitted in valve system, manufacturer VDO. In most current designs of direct TPMS, a small electronic assembly which is rugged enough to be mounted inside a tire, measures the pressure using a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) [1] pressure sensor and then transmits this and other information to one or more vehicle receivers.
