One trail follows the 1820s Memphis to Little Rock Road. About 6,000 acres of land in North Little Rock, Arkansas (at the time called Argenta) were purchased by the United States government between 1900 and 1915. It was used as a training camp for soldiers during World War I called Camp Pike. Fox holes and other remnants of the camp can still be found along the trails and other areas of the park.

The Bull Shoals-White River State Park is a 725-acre (2.93 km 2) park in Baxter and Marion Counties of Arkansas both above and below the massive dam. Facilities, including camping, pavilions, dock and interpretive programs, stretch along the banks of the White River. Along the lakeshore, the park offers picnic sites and playgrounds.
